Mad Rush For Dark Mofo 2023 Tickets On First Day Of Sale
Mad rush for Dark Mofo 2023 tickets on first day of sale
Dark Mofo festival organisers say there was a mad rush for tickets on the first day of sale.
There were 12,000 people waiting in the online queue at midday when tickets went on sale, and by 4pm more than 38,000 tickets were sold, topping $3.1M in box office revenue. This is a first day sales record for the festival, with 62% of tickets sold to interstate patrons.
Eight shows have now sold out, including Night Mass: Exstasia (June 17 only), Thundercat, Max Richter’s SLEEP, Max Richter’s VOICES and Recomposed (June 10 only), Trentemøller, Laterne by Berlin Atonal, Behold the Wonder, Nada Sound Ceremony, with many more shows expected to sell out in the next 72 hours.
Traditionally the most popular ticketed event for locals has been the Winter Feast, with a limited number of Winter Feast passes available. The multi-day Feast ticket allows patrons to avoid the queue on entry, so organisers are advising Tasmanians to buy their tickets soon.
“We’re really buoyed by the response to this year’s program, Dark Mofo audiences have once again come out in force. We’ve broken our first day sales records which is very encouraging, and while some shows have now sold out, there are plenty of great performances still available,” Creative Director Leigh Carmichael said. “We advise people to book now, and while the program can be overwhelming, we encourage audiences to check out the program online, and see something they would not normally consider going to. It’s not really Dark Mofo until you attend something unexpected.”
There are also plenty of free events to attend across the two-week festival.
