Hooky Returns to Oz in October to Perform 'Substance'
Peter Hook & The Light are set to return to Oz this coming October to perform the legendary Factory Record albums Substance by Joy Division and New Order. Both albums will be performed sequentially and in their entirety.
Released in 1987, Substance was originally conceived as a way for Factory Records boss, Tony Wilson, to play the New Order singles on the CD player of his new Jaguar. Substance became Factory Records’ 200th release and remains the best-selling New Order album.
Joy Division’s Substance arrived a year later and featured the group’s four non-album singles, ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’, ‘Transmission’, ‘Komakino’, and ‘Atmosphere’. It also boasted a handful of b-sides and tracks which previously appeared on Factory Records samplers and Joy Division’s debut EP An Ideal for Living.
Since debuting with the Unknown Pleasures Tour in Australia in 2010, Peter Hook & The Light have toured the globe continuously. The band is touting this string of shows as the most total appreciation of the Joy Division and New Order catalogues to date.
